Dutch Modern Model 144 Desk Lamp by Herman Busquet for Hala

A rounded table lamp designed in 1932 by Herman Theodoor Jan Anthoin Busquet, lead designer for Zeist-based lamp importer and manufacturer, Hala. Influenced by De Stijl and Bauhaus styles, Busquet espoused a modernism that was playful and highly functional. A pendant-like design has a round metal shade of black-enameled metal suspended from a curved arm of polished steel, which extends cantilevered from a round plate base. Both the base and shade angles are adjustable.
Condition: Good original condition. Cleaned and polished, with signs of wear appropriate to age and use.
