Richard Meier for Swid Powell Postmodern Silver Bowl

$850.00

A small silver-plate bowl designed by architect Richard Meier as part of a suite of postmodern tablewares for 1980s female-led collaboration Swid Powell. The brainchild of Nancy Swid and Addie Powell, a former Knoll design director, and sales executive, respectively, Swid Powell commissioned small postmodern design objects from their architect friends and marketed them at a chic Midtown showroom. Their partnership with Richard Meier was especially prolific.

This example is a 1983 design for an understated, shallow bowl sitting on a comparatively high foot in the shape of an X. The foot is impressed with the manufacture information, “Swid Powell © RM Made in Argentina.”
