Ettore Sottsass for Knoll Set of Four Mandarin Chairs with Red Arms
A 1986 design by Ettore Sottsass for Knoll, the Mandarin Chair has a curved back- and armrest, upholstered seat, and four round legs in enameled metal. A slight wave in the backrest gives it an ergonomic swell. The chair plays equally to Sottsass’ love of historic quotation — the curved arms are meant to recall early Thonet bentwood furniture — and Knoll’s business-oriented clientele, as the chair’s variety of finish options allowed it to fit seamlessly with an array of environments.
This set of four features the metal arm variant with bright red enamel.
25.5” width x 25” depth x 32.5” height; seat height is 17 and arm height is 23”
Excellent, restored condition with new upholstery. Arms and legs have been freshly powder-coated.
