Pair of Paul Laszlo Cane Lounge Chairs
A pair of rare, museum grade lounge chairs by Paul Laszlo for Glenn of California, c.1950s. The chairs feature an oiled mahogany frame with newly woven cane seat and back. The woven seat lays atop the frame that is supported by outwardly pitched legs. The frame serves as a support for the woven backrest. This exhibition quality chair is one of Laszlo’s most desired and rare seating designs, as they were produced in limited numbers and one of only a handful of pieces that he designed for Glenn of California. The chair was part of a woven furniture suite that consisted of the slipper/lounge chair, a matching ottoman, settee, and a rarely seen rocking chair, that is thought to be the only rocking chair Laszlo designed. The craftsmanship is second to none with an intricate attention to detail that could only be a Laszlo design.
