Pair of Rosewood and Leather Safari Chairs by Arne Norell
A pair of 'Sirocco' safari chair designed by Arne Norell in 1966 and produced by his eponymous company, in Småland, Sweden. This pair features a solid rosewood frame with pronounced sapwood figuring. Inspired by traditional campaign furniture, as well as other early modernist takes on the safari chair, the design was intended for “knock down” construction, and can ship flat if necessary. Assembled, it presents a pleasingly horizontal structure strapped with sturdy leather slings for the seat and backrest, affixed with brass hardware. A removable tufted leather cushion attaches to the lower sling.
