Set of Four Mandarin Chairs with Red Arms by Ettore Sottsass for Knoll
A 1986 design by Ettore Sottsass for Knoll, the Mandarin Chair has a curved back- and armrest, upholstered seat, and four round legs in enameled metal. A slight wave in the backrest gives it an ergonomic swell. The chair plays equally to Sottsass’ love of historic quotation — the curved arms are meant to recall early Thonet bentwood furniture — and Knoll’s business-oriented clientele, as the chair’s variety of finish options allowed it to fit seamlessly with an array of environments. This set of four features the metal arm variant with a bright red enamel.
Condition: Excellent restored condition with new upholstery. Arms and legs have been powder-coated.
Dimensions: 25.5” width x 25” depth x 32.5” height; seat height is 17 and arm height is 23”
