The unfinished back is stamped with a crown [marked ER Staverton.]
Staverton is a British bespoke office supply company that has been around since 1928 and was known for their use of detailed wood joinery in their designs. In the 1950s and 60s, they secured orders to supply furniture to London hotels and a contract for UK government buildings with casegoods and other furniture, hence the crown marking on specific pieces.
