George Nelson’s 1947 design for Herman Miller was an updated take on the classic gateleg table. The central panel support has four rotating legs that allow for more stability than the traditional two-leg design. The innovative box-jointed hinge allows the leaves to turn down while preserving a 90˚ angle at the edges when the leaves are dropped. In this position, the table functions as a small sideboard that fits seamlessly with Nelson's Basic Cabinet series, released the same year. This example is produced in walnut with superior grain figuring on the tabletop and central panel.

Condition: Excellent restored condition; professionally refinished.

Dimensions: Fully extended the table measures 64.5” long x 40” deep x 29.75” high. With one leaf dropped the table measures 41.5” long x 40” deep x 29.75” high. With both leaves dropped the tables measures 18.5” deep x 40” long x 29.75” height. Each leaf is 24” wide.
