Pair of Teak Side Tables with Cane Shelf by Hvidt & Molgaard for France & Daverkosen
By France & Son
A pair of teak side tables made by France & Daverkosen for retail in the US by John Stuart. Designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen and produced in 1956, these tall tables have a rounded, trapezoidal surface in solid teak with slightly inset tapered dowel legs. A single shelf of basket-woven cane with a teak frame is positioned at the one-third mark, with the round legs passing through each corner. Though France & Daverkosen always produced high-quality goods, this set is made from particularly beautiful teak wood, darkened to a rich auburn color through the natural aging process. The tables retain both the John Stuart metal label and a stamped France & Daverkosen logo from the mid-50s.
