George Nakashima Studio Dining Set featuring Black Walnut Captain Chairs and Frenchman's Cove Dining Table
Dining set from American midcentury craftsman George Nakashima. The set features four black walnut captains chairs and square live edge dining table. The chairs, produced c.1974 have curved, peaked backrests atop carved spindles, inspired by the Windsor chair and Shaker pieces. The seats are hand-sculpted for comfort and sit on four tapered dowel legs, joined to each chair at a distinctively steep angle. The backrests are distinctive tenon joints. The table crafted of black walnut, c.1967 features a live edge and pedestal base. Both pieces were purchased from the original owners and have been verified by the Nakashima Foundation and are accompanied by the original receipt.
