$125.00

Side chair by David Rowland for GF Furniture Systems, c. 1990. Th 1963-designed simple and stackable modern 40/4 stacking dining chair. These feature heavy chrome plated steel bases, with molded seats upholstered in its original fabric. It got its name due to the fact that when stacked, it fits 40 chairs in just 4 feet of space hence the name 40/4 chair.

David Rowland attended the University of Southern California to study industrial design and, in 1951, received his Master’s Degree in Industrial Design at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Rowland believed that chairs should have characteristics other than appearance, this led him to spend 8 years designing a chair that would save space--the 40/4 Chair was patented in 1963.
