Eames for Herman Miller Seating System in Burgundy
A tandem sling airport bench designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. In 1962 Charles and Ray Eames were commissioned to design a modular seating system for the Chicago O’Hare and Washington D.C. Dulles airports. They based the design for the sling seating upholstery on the Aluminum Group suite of office chairs.
This example was produced by Herman Miller in 2015. The bench features a polished aluminum frame with four burgundy vinyl upholstered seats and black armrests. It is divided into two seats on one side, two opposing seats, with an attached sleek and minimal laminate side table in the middle. The side table can be unattached.
