Early Model Walter Lamb Patio Rocking Chair
By Brown Jordan
A late 1940s or early 1950s Walter Lamb rocking chair predating or from the early days of his partnership with Brown Jordan. The chair has a frame in tubular bronze with the verdigris patina that distinguishes his designs. Two runners with bowed rear edges form the rocking frame, which terminates at bronze finials on either side of the backrest, characteristic of his early designs. The strung seat and backrest are formed by tightly woven sailcord, made of braided cotton with a nylon core to prevent stretching.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition; bronze carries an age-appropriate patina, sail cord has been replaced according to original specifications.
Dimensions: 21" width x 32" depth x 31" height; seat height is 16.5" and arm height is 24"
