Set of four "A-Frame" armchairs with tapered legs and brass capped feet by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, USA, c.1960s. The seat cushions have previously been reupholstered with a striped wool fabric in shades of brown and blue. The woven cane backrests with dual brass rod supports enhance the masterful handmade quality to the chairs.

Retains Dunbar brass label.


Edward Wormley was a longtime director of design for the Dunbar furniture company and was one of the leading forces in bringing modern design into American homes in the mid-20th century. In the mid-1940s, Wormley guided Dunbar to devote their total production focus to modern furniture. His designs were included in the MoMA "Good Design" exhibitions of the 1950s besides Harry Bertoia, George Nelson, Charles & Ray Eames, among others.
