Set of Eight Edward Wormley Dining Chairs for Dunbar
Set of eight dining chairs by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, USA, c.1960s. The seat cushions are upholstered in a tufted tan Naugahyde which is a beautiful contrast to the rich mahogany frames. The set features two arm chairs and six side chairs.
Edward Wormley was a longtime director of design for the Dunbar furniture company and was one of the leading forces in bringing modern design into American homes in the mid-20th century. In the mid-1940s, Wormley guided Dunbar to devote their total production focus to modern furniture. His designs were included in the MoMA "Good Design" exhibitions of the 1950s besides Harry Bertoia, George Nelson, Charles & Ray Eames, among others.
