Ceramic dish by Native American pottery artist Maria Martinez and Santana c.1960s. The round plate features a black-on-black style of pottery that combines matte and polished black surfaces which was pioneered by Martinez and her husband in the early 1920s. The painting of this plate was done by Maria's daughter-in-law, Santana.
