Sommerso Murano Glass Vase by Flavio Poli, Italy, c.1960s. The rounded shaped vase features a slim profile and is made of “Sommerso” (Italian for “submerged”) glass, a Murano glassmaking technique of creating two or more layers of contrasting glass without the colors mixing together. This technique, showcases a translucent core of deep tobacco, amber and dark olive green cleanly layered within a heavy, thick purple glass border.
